We choose a theme that interests us every three months, then select a number of books to fit. Our aim is to broaden the scope of our individual reading choices and to enjoy spirited discussion each month, exploring how literature sheds light on life in the 21st century. We take turns to present a book, but everyone is involved in the discussion. Novels form the bulk of our choices, but we sometimes include plays, poetry or essay collections. Recent themes include: historical fiction and how it might influence current thinking; the power dynamic and generational conflict; language and identity; heroism and sacrifice; whether speculative fiction has a useful function.
We are currently unable to accept new members, if you would like more information about the group, please contact the convenor using the link above or the Groups Co-ordinator who would be delighted to support and help you.
